In 2024, BnM and SSE Renewables, two leading low-carbon energy providers, announced their formation of a joint venture to develop a series of onshore wind energy projects. This partnership will deliver up to 800MW of new renewable energy generation for Ireland.
As part of this joint venture, BnM and SSE Renewables are proposing to develop a wind farm on Bellair North and Bellair South Bogs located in Counties Offaly and Westmeath. The proposed wind farm will be known as Bellair Wind Farm. As the project is at a very early stage, the proposed number, location and height of turbines have not yet been determined.
The joint venture partnership is fully committed to informing and engaging with you through an active communication programme. As part of this, we have appointed a Community Engagement and Stakeholder Team including a designated Community Liaison Officer, Enda (087-0579141), to engage with local communities and residents. At this stage of the project, we are seeking feedback from the community on the proposed intention to develop a wind farm on these bogs.
