Powering Green Energy Together
BnM and SSE Renewables have launched a 50:50 joint venture which will target the delivery of up to 800MW of new renewable onshore wind energy across the Midlands.
As part of this joint venture, it is proposed to develop a wind farm on Bellair North and Bellair South Bogs located in Counties Offaly and Westmeath. The proposed wind farm will be known as Bellair Wind Farm.
Since the project was launched in mid-2025, the project team has continued to advance the project design and has now produced a draft layout for the proposed wind farm. The draft layout comprises 12 turbines, each with a maximum blade tip height of 220 metres. It has been developed using a constraints-led approach and informed by on-site surveys, constraints mapping and the public consultation carried out to date.

The Project
The purpose of the Bellair Wind Farm is to generate renewable electricity which will be transmitted directly onto Ireland’s National Grid which is managed by EirGrid.
